Getting into Truck Driving School

department as soon as you can. There are some things you may need to do
ahead of time! Below are general guidelines which may vary from state to
state.
Admission Requirements and Guidelines for CDL License Training
Admission Requirements for truck driver training are
as follows:
- The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
- If desiring interstate employment, the applicant must be at least 21
years old.
- All truck school applicants must have a valid driver's license in
their possession at the time of enrollment.
- All truck driver training school applicants must pass a Department
of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screen before
attending truck school training.
- All trucking school applicants must be drug-free and agree to drug
testing.
- All school applicants must be able to read, write, speak, and
understand highway traffic signs and signals, to converse with the
general public, to respond to official inquiries, and to make legible
entries on truck reports and records.
A driver should certify that during the 2-year period immediately prior
to applying for a Commercial Drivers License that:
- The applicant has no more than one license.
- The applicant has not had any license suspended,
revoked, or canceled.
- The applicant has not had any convictions
in any type of motor vehicle for major disqualifying offenses.
- The applicant has not had more than one
conviction for any type of motor vehicle for serious traffic violations.
- The applicant has not had any violation of State
or local law relating to motor vehicle traffic control arising in
connection with any traffic accident, and has no record of an accident
in which they were at fault.
